About the Castlewellan Agricultural Show

Set across 50 acres in the beautiful surroundings of Castlewellan Forest Park, Castlewellan Agricultural Show always takes place from 9am – 6pm on the first Saturday after the 12th of July each year.

Come join us for a fun Family day out for all at Castlewellan Agricultural Show. There is something on offer for everyone a celebration of farming, food and countryside set in the picturesque Castlewellan Forest Park.

We have a variety of livestock classes on the day with thousands of animals being judged including beef, dairy, sheep, horses, ponies, donkeys, pigs, poultry, rabbits and cavies. We have activities to include the very popular showjumping, pony games, dog agility and family pet show. Children’s entertainment, bouncy castles, face painting to name a few.

In addition we have numerous trade stands, craft marquee, Eco Village, Home Industries marquee and local schools also get involved with some amazing displays on offer. We have wonderful food to sample in our food village proudly promoting local produce with cookery demonstrations throughout the day. We have attractions to include Fleece Marquee, Model Farm Displays, Spinners & Weavers, NI Stick Makers, Seaforde Vintage Club Displays, Displays from PSNI & NIFRS, County Down Young Farmers Showcase with Tug of War and Farm Families Health Check Van. We have music by the poplar Country Harmony, Box Car Brian and Jordon McPolin on the main stage. Come see our Jiving Competition with the amazing Jiving Jym.

Castlewellan Agricultural Showground is easily accessible. We are located within Castlewellan Forest Park. Just follow the show signs from all main routes on show day.

Parking

Our parking stewards will direct you where to park your vehicle. Parking is free of charge within Castlewellan Forest Park on show day.

Accessibility

Accessible parking for blue badge holders is located directly in front of the show field. The parking stewards will direct you to the accessible parking area.

Opening hours

Castlewellan Agricultural Show: 9am to 6pm. Gate sales close at 4pm.

Dogs

Dogs are permitted at Castlewellan Agricultural Show. Please ensure dogs are on a short lead and kept close to you at all times for the safety of our visitors and livestock. (These rules must be strictly adhered to)

Tickets

Tickets can be purchased online at a discounted rate. Start your day without a hitch by ensuring you have your entry tickets ready before you arrive to speed up the admission process.

Please note, we cannot accept screenshots.

Entry fee can also be paid at the gate on show day.

What time does the Castlewellan Show open?
The show opens to the public at 9:00am, with competitions and activities running throughout the day. We recommend arriving early to make the most of everything on offer.
Is there parking available at the event?
Yes — on-site parking is available within Castlewellan Forest Park. Stewards will direct you on arrival. Accessible parking spaces are also provided for visitors with mobility needs.
Are there children’s activities at the show?
Absolutely! From funfair attractions and interactive displays to animal encounters and craft workshops, there’s plenty to keep younger visitors entertained throughout the day.
Do I need to buy my tickets in advance?
While some tickets may be available on the day, we strongly recommend purchasing in advance to guarantee entry and benefit from faster access at the gate.
Can I bring my dog to the show?
Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a lead at all times. Please clean up after your pet and be mindful around livestock and busy areas.
