Livestock Competitions

We have thousands of animals taking part in livestock competitions on show day. All being judged for the best in breed. We celebrate the very best of farming life. We host one of the biggest sheep shows in Northern Ireland with over 1000 entries of Sheep, over 400 Cattle, 400 Horses, 85 Donkeys, 400 Poultry, nearly 100 Rabbit and Cavies, 60 Pigs, 50 Pygmy Goats, and 500 Home Industry entries. There really is something for everyone at Castlewellan Show.

Cookery Demonstrations

Display of vintage machinery and tractors. With a fantastic display of threshing

Model Farm Display

We have a huge display of model farms on display. A delight for visitors of all ages

Fleece MarqueeOpen all Day, Fleeces, Felting

Spinners & Weavers – (beside fleece marquee) making clothing from wool. Come and see for yourself the heritage and history of felting and weaving.

NI Stickmakers CLUB

The NI Stickmakers Club will host a Stickmaking Exhibition of Crooks and Sticks.  They will also give demonstrations.

Young Farmers Co Down

Invite you to visit their Showcase

Members of YFC invite you to come along and get involved. YFCD will end the show with highly popular tug of war competition. 4.45PM Approx.

NIFRS Display

Come and see our NI Fire and Rescue Service display with model farm animals.

ECO Village

Come visit us in the Eco Village with a look at sustainable practices in our local community. With information stalls from True Harvest Seeds, Tollymore Red Squirrel Group, Red Kites NI, Hedgerows Ireland, Flax to Linen with Growing Social Gardening, connecting Cooley, Mourne and Gullion, Downpatrick and Co. Down Railway, Turnip House Felting, Robert and Kathleen Trotter Weaving.

Children’s Entertainment – All Day

Bouncy Castles, Inflatable Slide, Bumping Cars, Inflatable Maze, Bungee Trampoline, Games Trailer, Hobby Horses & Face Painting
